Her Story

From classroom observation to evidence-based gratitude practice

Siobhan’s journey into gratitude practice began in 2010 whilst working as a secondary school counsellor in Cork. She noticed her students struggled with negative thought patterns and limited resilience. Thing is, most weren’t facing actual crises — they were stuck in a mental habit of focusing on what went wrong rather than what went well. That observation sparked something.

She pursued formal training in positive psychology at University College Dublin, completing her Master’s degree in 2013. Over the following years, she developed her signature “Three Observations Evening Practice”—a simple yet powerful framework that helps participants shift their mental focus from problems to possibilities. It’s not complicated. Each evening, you note three things that went well, no matter how small. A conversation that made you laugh. A task you completed. A moment of peace. That’s it. But done consistently, it rewires how your brain approaches the next day.

Since joining Gratitude Roots Limited in 2019, Siobhan’s refined and scaled her workshop methodology. She’s delivered over 120 group programmes annually, training facilitators across Dublin, Galway, and Limerick. Her approach is rooted in neuroscience research on neuroplasticity and habit formation, but she keeps it real — no corporate jargon, no complicated frameworks. She believes sustainable mindset change comes from consistent, small actions. Not grand gestures. Her workshops reflect this philosophy through practical, implementable strategies that people can actually maintain long-term.

Her Approach

Philosophy and methodology

Siobhan’s approach is grounded in three core beliefs:

1

Small Actions, Big Impact

You don’t need to overhaul your life to shift your mindset. Three observations each evening. One appreciation note per week. That’s the foundation. Consistency matters more than intensity.

2

Science Meets Real Life

Her work is rooted in neuroscience research on neuroplasticity and habit formation. But she doesn’t hide behind jargon. Every concept is explained in plain language so you understand why these practices actually work.

3

Authenticity Over Perfection

There’s no “right way” to practice gratitude. Some people write in journals. Others think through observations before bed. Some use voice notes. She meets people where they are and helps them build a practice that fits their actual life.

“Sustainable mindset change comes from consistent, small actions — not grand gestures. That’s what I’ve seen work over fourteen years. And that’s what every workshop I design is built on.”
